Ebbsfleet captain Daryl McMahon was "adamant" he shouldn't have been sent-off against Wealdstone.

McMahon saw red for a challenge on Watford loanee Luke O'Nien late in the first half and it finished 0-0 at the PHB Stadium after the Fleet played the whole of the second half with 10 men.

Ebbsfleet boss Steve Brown was asked about the incident after the game.

He said: "It doesn’t matter how I see it because the challenge was being made away from my eye line. It’s an impossible action for me to make a judgment on.

"But what I will say is that Macca’s absolutely adamant that he (the referee) should have taken four or five seconds. He said it was a booking but their lad didn’t help (with his reaction). You’d have thought he at least required a stretcher and an ambulance.

"I think the referee needed to take four or five seconds. That card came out before he even got over to Macca. It was out and up before he even got over to Macca. His decision was made, because it’s wet, because he didn’t want other challenges like that.

"What he should have done is take stock. It’s a very rash decision.

"I thought he was poor. I don’t like picking on refs, but little pushes for them (went unpunished) and there were whistles in the mouth very quickly for us.

"I’m disappointed that he rushed into his pocket and pulled out a red card that quick.

"But I will watch the video and I am very honest. The camera’s going to have a great angle of that and I will hold my hands up if I do believe it’s a sending-off.

"But Macca’s absolutely adamant there’s no way that was a red card."
