Ebbsfleet manager Danny Searle says the quality of his forward line is testament to the club’s recruitment in the transfer market.

Searle is thrilled to have the attacking trio of Dominic Poleon, Rakish Bingham and Dominic Samuel at his disposal.

Poleon is the club’s leading scorer while Bingham now has seven goals in eight games under Searle and Samuel opened the scoring in last weekend’s home win over Gateshead.

The Fleet boss believes all three players would get into most National League sides.

“We’re blessed with all three of our centre-forwards,” said Searle. “There’s not many teams in this league that they wouldn’t be in and around so that’s a credit to them and a credit to the recruitment at the club.

“We need to make sure that we keep them fit, keep them healthy - hence the Dom Poleon situation. There’s no point using him today and then we miss him for seven games, it’s about looking after him.

“Raks is great for the level. I’ve been fortunate that since he’s been in the building he’s scored seven goals in eight games and long may that continue.”

Poleon was left out of the starting line-up against Gateshead with Samuel given the nod to lead the line.

It was a big call by Searle but a sensible one given Poleon’s workload and with a busy run of games ahead.

“I think Dom needed a rest and Dom Samuel has been banging on the door,” explained Searle.

“It was an opportunity to do that, especially with the way we wanted to set up from certain pressing positions it suited Dom Samuel a little bit more rather than Dom Poleon.

“He’s played a lot of minutes for us and has run himself into the ground. It’s about protecting him as we’ve still got games to play. If that’s the last game of the season, we might have made different decisions.

“It was always going to be a chance for Dom Samuel to get some gametime and to give Dom Poleon a rest.”

On hat-trick hero Bingham, the Fleet boss added: “Raks is a great character. He’s got quite a calm persona about him.

“He brings a calmness to the group and when he’s on it, he’s unplayable at times and I think we saw that in the second half. He probably could have nicked a couple more goals as well.

“He’s a big character and leader in our group but we’ve got a lot of leaders in our group. It’s just about gelling them and making sure we’re all on the same page which I believe we are and kicking on from there.”

Ebbsfleet are in a run of games against play-off hopefuls with Good Friday opponents Southend still holding outside hopes of making the top seven.

The Fleet are still only four points above the drop zone despite winning five of their last six games, but matches are running out for the teams below them.

“If you look at the run of games with Aldershot last Tuesday, then Halifax and Southend to come, that’s four teams chasing play-offs,” noted Searle.

“It’s a run of tough games so it’s important that we put some points on the board before we go into a run of games where it won’t be easy, of course, but we’re playing teams in and around us.”
