In-demand Ebbsfleet youngster Shilow Tracey could be a step closer to signing for Tottenham Hotspur after joining the Premier League academy side's tour of Florida.

Tracey was taken on trial by the Premier League club in October before returning to the Fleet although Spurs have maintained their interest in the talented forward.

He played and scored for the tourists in their wins over Baltimore Celtic and Jacksonville Armada.

Ebbsfleet vice-chairman Peter Varney said: "There’s a lot of clubs interested in Shilow.

"Spurs wanted to see him up close and there’s nothing better than going out on tour and playing a couple of games. They’ll see what a good player he is and we’ll have a chat when they come back.

"There’s other clubs that have asked to be kept informed if Tottenham’s not the choice, so we’ll see what happens when he comes back."

Tracey has already played trial matches for several clubs at Premier League and Championship level and Mr Varney is keen that the process doesn't drag on for too long.

He said: "The problem is the player becomes like a piece of meat if you’re touting him around four or five clubs. We don’t want to do that. We didn’t want to do that at the start but the fact is that when you’ve got a really good player, you’ve got so many clubs showing interest.

"We owe it to him on one level to go and see the clubs so he gets the best move for him and us but on another level, it does start becoming like almost every day he’s got to prove himself to somebody else and you don’t want that either."
