Ebbsfleet United new boy Bobby-Joe Taylor excited to learn new methods under German manager Dennis Kutrieb

Bobby-Joe Taylor is excited by the prospect of furthering his football education under Ebbsfleet’s German manager.
Taylor liked what he heard when he sat down for transfer talks with new Fleet boss Dennis Kutrieb, who moved to England after winning two promotions in Germany’s lower leagues.
It’s Taylor’s first experience of working with an overseas manager and he intends to embrace the opportunity.
“It’s something that interested me when Fleet came in,” said Taylor, who gives Kutrieb options at left-back, left-wing or even central midfield after joining from Dover .
“Sometimes a change is good and this is something that excited me.
“German football is always good. I met the gaffer before I made a decision, I had a conversation with him and his direction and ambition for the club sat well with me.
“It’s nice to work with him and so far what he’s trying to implement is really good.
“I like the different ideas he has for the club and the players.
“He’s really strong on building a team with ambitious players and characters, people who will buy into the type of play he’s bringing over from Germany.
“It’s been a tough first week of training but what he’s bringing is an interesting style of play and something I’m really excited to be involved with.
“There’s definitely things he can do for me as an individual, too.
“He wants to get the best out of the team but also everyone individually, and you can see that by the staff he’s brought in, with the sports science side and the assistant manager does a lot of analysis on everyone, what you’re good at, what you’re not good at.
“Moving forward, he fitted the bill for me.”
Ebbsfleet have overhauled their squad following relegation to National League South and will be among the promotion favourites but Taylor, 25, will let his football do the talking.
“In the dressing room we know the targets the gaffer has set for us,” he said.
“It’s not for us to go out publicly and say we're going to do this or that.
“We want to work in silence, be humble, work hard on the training pitch every day and see where that takes us.”
Taylor scored one of the best goals of his career against Ebbsfleet, a stunning solo effort in the National South play-off final for Maidstone, four years ago.
He also scored in the penalty shoot-out as the Stones were promoted at Fleet’s expense.
“Football’s crazy, isn’t it?” said Taylor.
“One season I’m scoring that goal at Ebbsfleet and getting promotion and now I’ll be playing for them. It’s a bit surreal.
“I had a little joke with Steve (Lovell, director of football) and said I don’t know how the fans will take to me because of what happened in the play-off final but so far everyone’s been quite welcoming.
“A few people tweeted me saying I’m sure I can forgive you for the play-off final if you do it for us and that’s what I’ll be looking to do.
“Whichever club I’m at I give 100% every time I go out on that pitch and I’m delighted to be here.”
Taylor has wished former club Dover well following his move to Ebbsfleet.
The entire squad were made available on free transfer with the Whites’ finances seriously hit by the coronavirus pandemic .
“I hope they pull through and get back on their feet,” said Taylor.
“It’s a good club and the fans are fantastic - they gave me a good time there.
“I’ve had to make a decision for my career and it also helps the club out because it gets me off the wage bill.”
