Only one game was played in the Gravesend League after persistent heavy rain left a number of pitches unplayable last Saturday.

The surviving game was a Division 2 clash between title contenders Ash Green and strugglers Meopham Reserves.

Ash Green took a deserved 2-0 lead into the break after Paul Bradbury bagged a brace.

The home side would have been further ahead if it had not been for dogged defensive performances from Meopham’s Simon Wild and Joe Page.

In the second half, Meopham started to take control in midfield and pulled a goal back through John Allwright.

The game was played in an excellent spirit despite the heavy and slippery conditions with referee David King playing his part in making the match a credit to all involved.
