Sarah Tyson of Redlibbets Golf Club

Sarah Tyson fell at the quarter-final stage of the Girls' British Open Amateur Golf Championship losing to Germany's Sophia Popov at the Monifieth club in Scotland.

The 16-year-old Redlibbets Golf Club player had beaten Scot Kelsey MacDonald (3&2) and Austrian Carolin Pineggar (4&3) in previous rounds but Popov was too strong, winning by one hole.

Tyson had been just one of four English girls to reach the last 16 but only one of them would go any further - the title was eventually won by Laura Gonzalez-Escallon of Belgium, beating England's Kelly Tidy 2&1.
