Vigo Rugby Club’s 973km 10-day charity challenge didn’t prove tough enough so they more than quadrupled it.
Their original plan was to walk the equivalent of visiting every rugby club in Kent, Sussex and the South east London, a distance of 973km, but that was completed in just seven days.
What they eventually covered amounted to over 4,000km and their fundraising challenge has raised over £1,800 for NHS Charities Together, surpassing their initial £500 target.
The distance covered is equivalent of walking from Twickenham to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and back three times over, or Twickenham to Rome and back twice.
The club were divided into three teams for the challenge, with ages ranging from five to 72, collating the distance covered by each person walking, running and cycling as part of their daily exercise.
With the original distance covered on day seven, they added a trip to Twickenham, playing a game of rugby against England (working out how much distance is covered in a match by each player), before returning to Vigo.
There was still one day left, so they then did a Walk For Padge in honour of a club member who died recently and was a keen walker.
