Danny Kedwell hailed Ebbsfleet's togetherness after they stormed into pole position in the play-off race.

Avoid defeat at Torquay on Saturday and Fleet will be two games from the promotion final at Wembley.

Leading scorer Kedwell has 20 goals to his name and says belief within the squad has never been greater.

He said: "We're full of confidence - not just the players but the staff as well.

"The gaffer's been magnificent. He believes in us and tells us how good we are so we take that onto the pitch.

"When you come into a new season and you've got new players coming in, you've got to see how their character is and they've got to see how the old players' character is so it's hard to bond.

"But it's come at the right time and we've got a great group here. We're all in it together and we back each other.

"We have great banter but when it goes on the pitch, we do the business together as well. We've got each other's backs."

Ebbsfleet head to Torquay fifth, their highest position all season, after winning nine of their last 13 games.

Kedwell said: "We were aiming for top 10 but we knew, as a group, we could go higher with the quality we've got in this team.

"We deserve to be where we are.

"If we had a better start to the season, with all those draws, we'd have been in and around automatic promotion.

"We've got to make sure we prepare right and perform against Torquay. Hopefully we have a good day out in the play-offs."

Ebbsfleet will have home advantage in the first round of the play-offs if they win at Torquay.

Kedwell said: "It would be great to be at home but the way we're playing at the minute, we're not worried where we play really.

"If we keep performing how we are, we'll be all right.

"We've got to make sure we keep on it and don't do anything stupid."
