Ebbsfleet can move to within two points of the play-offs with a win at lowly Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday.

Jamie Day’s side beat rock-bottom Staines 3-2 on Tuesday night and only maximum points against another of the Vanarama Conference South’s strugglers will do this weekend.

Fleet haven’t won back-to-back league games since the start of October and they need to find their form quickly to have any chance of finishing in the top five.

Day said: "Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run - because we need to.

"If we play like we did on Tuesday and win the next eight games, I don’t care and supporters won’t care, they’ll just want wins.

"The strange thing in this league is that when you think people are going to win, they get beat. We’ve just got to be consistent and need to win as many games as we possibly can.

"We have to get our performance levels up a little bit but if we win games and play poorly, I’ll take it."

Centre-half Anthony Acheampong (concussion) won’t return until Tuesday’s home game against Bromley but striker Adam Cunnington (dead leg) will be fit for Saturday.

Sean Shields has been ill lately and came off feeling sick in midweek but he is expected to keep his place.
