Persistence paid off for Myles Weston after his stoppage-time winner sent Ebbsfleet through to the second round of the FA Trophy.
Weston was always a threat against Eastleigh, delivering dangerous crosses or having a go himself.
And in the first of three added minutes at the end of the game, he cut inside and struck a low shot past Graham Stack to earn Fleet a 2-1 win.
Weston said: "During the game I took the left-back on quite a few times but I didn’t get into that area - it was wider. When I got it more central, I thought ‘let me get it out of my feet and shoot’ and luckily I scored.
"I’m happy we’re through to the next round, happy we got another win at home and happy we all had a good performance so there were lots of positives to take from the game.
"They tried to make the game horrible. They hit it long a lot but we tried to play a lot more and get it wide.
"They tried to kill the game a bit by kicking it long. Their defenders were kicking it out, over the stand just to waste time but I think we dealt with it well.
"We played well. The gaffer’s team talk at half-time was just to carry on with a little bit more intensity and in the second half, we definitely brought that.
"I had no doubt we were going to score but I didn’t know we were going to score so late!"
