Daryl McMahon was up against some familiar faces when Ebbsfleet took on Tottenham's youngsters on Saturday.
The Fleet boss worked in the Spurs academy and was also on the Dagenham & Redbridge staff while Wayne Burnett - now the Tottenham under-23 manager - was in charge of the first team.
McMahon watched his side beat Spurs 3-1 at Stonebridge Road and praised their performance in standing toe-to-toe with the Premier League club's rising stars.

He said: "I know all the staff. I worked with all of them while I was there. They know me, they know how I want to play and they have been down to watch games.
"Wayne Burnett’s been down, Justin Cochrane’s been down and they’ve been down to training as well to watch how we work, looking to share stuff as coaches.
"They probably knew what we were going to be like. We’re slightly different from loads of other non-league teams in the sense that we’ll try to take the ball away from Tottenham, which not many teams will be able to do.
"It was an interesting game and I think everyone enjoyed it.
"It was a pretty good performance. We moved the ball really well at times, our defensive shape was really good and we created numerous chances in the game to maybe get a couple more goals.
"It was a fantastic workout against a good side."
There was a good tempo to Saturday's game, the Paul McCarthy memorial match, although it's a far cry from what life in the National League will be like.
McMahon said: "The majority of teams don’t have a philosophy like Tottenham, playing out from the back etc. Their movement’s excellent and the technical level of the team is eight or nine out of 10.
"There’s lots more to football - the tactical, physical and mental stuff which changes as you go on to league games. There’s less pressure in pre-season friendlies than there is in league games.
"It’s a different test for us but one we enjoyed."
No-one enjoyed it more than Darren McQueen, the former Spurs youngster, who opened the scoring against his former club with a trademark poacher's finish on 15 minutes.
McQueen, who joined Ebbsfleet last summer and finished their promotion-winning season as top scorer, arrived late to convert Jack Connors' cross from the left.
McMahon said: "He’s been excellent so far in pre-season.
"He’s come back flying, he didn’t have much of a break to be fair because he had the England C stuff at the end of the season. He’s come back looking very sharp.
"His goal was excellent. Any striker arriving that fast in the box to a cross is almost unstoppable and he kept control of it as well. It was a great goal for Daz."
