Big test for Ford's men

STEVE McKIMM: ankle injury
STEVE McKIMM: ankle injury

GRAVESEND & Northfleet intend putting a lean October behind them with a return to winning ways against Carlisle on Saturday at Stonebridge Road.

The Fleet’s need for points is emphasised by the fact that they last won a game on October 2 when they beat Leigh 4-1.

Since then they have failed to beat Aldershot, Burton, Exeter, Halifax and most recently Hornchurch in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Now they face second placed Carlisle who are bidding for an immediate return to the Football League following last season’s relegation and are unbeaten away from Brunton Park with three wins and four draws to their credit.

Manager Andy Ford admitted: “We need three points because we’ve had a tough run of games. But that’s the way it is in the Conference and you have to get on with it."

Skipper Steve McKimm, Chris Moore and Justin Skinner are all nursing ankle injuries sustained in Saturday’s defeat. Of the three, Skinner has the best chance of being fit.

Midfielder Jimmy Jackson faces a long period
