Steve Brown recorded his first win as a manager at the fifth attempt when Billy Bricknell scored twice for Ebbsfleet at Dorchester on Saturday.

The Fleet carved out plenty of early chances in Dorset. Anthony Cook was twice thwarted by Town goalkeeper Aaron Walker-Harris and Alex Osborn had an effort hacked off the line.

Bricknell had already gone close to an opener before he converted Cook's pass to make it 1-0 after 38 minutes.

Walker-Harris prevented Daryl McMahon and Joe Howe adding to the lead before half-time.

Dorchester went close after the break when Brandon Goodship's fierce drive drew a smart save from Fleet keeper Preston Edwards.

Cook made it 2-0 just before the hour but Ben Watson kept the contest alive when he scored for Dorchester on 66 minutes.

Ebbsfleet had a golden chance to wrap up the points when Walker-Harris was sent off for bringing down Michael Thalassitis in the box. Thalassitis took the penalty but his spot-kick was saved by substitute goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe.

However, Bricknell punished hesitant Dorchester defending to make it 3-1 in the closing stages and the hosts finished with nine men when Charlie Clough was dismissed for two bookable offences.

Ebbsfleet host Tonbridge in the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
