Ebbsfleet’s poor home form comes under even greater scrutiny this weekend when they entertain Folkestone in the FA Cup.

Without a league win at Stonebridge Road so far this season, the Fleet are low on confidence going into the second qualifying round clash.

Folkestone, who play in Ryman League Division 1 South, are 52 league places below Steve Brown’s side but they will believe they can spring an upset.

“It’s a free game for Folkestone,” Brown said. “They’re not expected to win, yet they’ll understand that there are banana-skin ties at every level.

“That’s what makes the FA Cup the FA Cup. It’s the most unique competition in the world because there is the potential to go and play against Manchester United.

"There is pressure when you’re the favourites but we have to deal with it. We have to make sure we have the utmost respect for Folkestone.

“We have to start with a work ethic and put them on the back foot.

“I want a result to kickstart us at home and I’m expecting to win on Saturday.”

Brown will be without on-loan striker Andy Pugh for the cup clash as his parent club Cambridge United don’t want him cup-tied before they enter the competition.

However, fellow centre-forward Ben May (back) finally resumed full training this week and could play some part after spending five weeks on the sidelines.
