Steve Brown praised his Ebbsfleet players for keeping cool heads on Saturday.
Fleet missed several good chances in the first half of their Vanarama Conference South clash with Farnborough and it was 0-0 when the half-time whistle blew at The PHB Stadium.
But a Matty Godden strike three minutes after the restart got the Fleet on their way and the striker completed a hat-trick by scoring twice more in the last five minutes.
Brown said: "I thought it was a good performance. Three was just about right.
"We could have been ahead at half-time, we weren’t, and I think the last 15 minutes of the first half went like the Bath game a little bit. We were a little bit frustrated, we knew we hadn’t taken our chances.
"There was a little bit of unrest around the ground because they wanted us to be ahead and I thought the players kept cool heads in the second half. It was great to get the early goal and that set the tone for the second 45.
"We had so many opportunities today but 3-0 is a good scoreline – and it's another clean sheet."
For all their good play, Ebbsfleet didn't trouble Boro goalkeeper Charlie Grainger enough in the first period.
Brown said: "We hit the bar and we missed the target. It’s always a worry when you’re not putting them in the back of the net, that the opposition have one corner, one set-piece or one deflection and you find yourselves on the back foot.
"But that wasn’t the case today and what we said at half-time was to be calm and keep believing in what they’re doing.
"Teams will come here and try to frustrate us. We know that, it’s par for the course. What we have to do is make sure we keep cool heads and not put ourselves in a position where we’re desperately trying to get in the lead - because that’s what everybody expects of us – but controlled possession to try to create chances.
"Today we did that, we got the balance right."
Fleet's win lifted them to second in Conference South, above Basingstoke, who lost 1-0 at home to St Albans. League leaders Boreham Wood were held to a 1-1 draw at Concord, so Brown's side have closed to within four points of top spot.
They travel to Eastbourne Borough next Saturday.
