Clough opener for Fleet

FORMER England international Nigel Clough will bring his Burton Albion team to take on Gravesend and Northfleet on the opening day of the season.

The Conference fixtures, just released, will see Fleet hosting Burton at Stonebridge Road on Saturday, August 9.

Gravesend will be hoping to get the season off to a winning start having taken four points off Clough's side last season. Fleet's first away match is just three days later, at Woking on Tuesday, August 12.

Exeter, one of the two teams relegated from Nationwide League, Division 3, at the end of last season, will be guests at Stonebridge Road on September 20 and Fleet boss Andy Ford will be looking to giving them a warm welcome to the Conference.

Fleet will play Barnet at Underhill on 11 November - 10 days after a home match against Accrington Stanley.

The festive period will see Gravesend play their Kent derby games against Margate, with Hartsdown Park hosting the first match on Boxing Day with the return at Stonebridge Road on New Year's Day.

Fleet finish their travels with an away game at Accrington Stanley on April 17 before ending their campaign at home to Northwich Victoria on April 24.
