Ebbsfleet v York
Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish has described as “ridiculous” the fixture congestion threatening to undermine the club’s season.
As Fleet attempt to avoid the late scramble for survival at the foot of the Blue Square Premier, Daish has called for a review of how fixtures are collated.
The Fleet, who have become victims of their own success in reaching the two-legged FA Trophy semi-final, face the prospect of playing four times a week in order to complete their fixtures – yet they were without a league game last weekend.
The Fleet are in Blue Square Premier action on Sunday at home to York before leaders Burton return to Stonebridge Road on Wednesday to replay the match abandoned last month because of snow.
Only 10th-placed Kettering on 29 have played fewer games than the Fleet, who have completed 30 of their 46 matches.
Because of the mounting backlog, Daish is aiming to bolster his squad with a defender, midfielder and striker.
