Bishops Stortford v Gravesend & Northfleet
MANAGER Liam Daish has warned his Gravesend players that Bishops Stortford are in the mood for another scalp after knocking Canvey Island out of the FA Trophy in Tuesday’s fifth round replay.
Daish was at Woodside Park to watch Stortford beat Canvey Island 2-1 to earn the right to entertain the Fleet in the quarter-finals on Saturday, March 12.
Conference South club Stortford, who are managed by former Arsenal player Martin Hayes, retrieved a 2-0 deficit at Canvey on Saturday to draw 2-2 before finishing the job on Tuesday thanks to goals from Alex Martin and Tim Langer.
Daish said: "Make no mistake, Bishops Stortford will be up for another scalping when we go there. I thought they coped extremely well on a difficult pitch and though I thought Canvey shaded it on fitness towards the end, Stortford were still strong enough to hold on.
"The message came across loud and clear. Stortford are a Conference South club who are more than capable of causing an upset. We will underestimate them at our peril."
