FORMER long-serving Gravesend manager Andy Ford has quit as assistant to Stevenage manager Graham Westley.

Ford had been at Stevenage for seven months. He moved to Broadhall Way after tendering his resignation at Stonebridge Road on January 25 after seven and a half years in charge.

He later confessed regretting the decision.

Ford said: "I enjoyed my seven months at Stevenage but I was a number one for seven and a half years at Gravesend and I found it hard being an assistant.

"I enjoyed the experience of getting into the promotion plays-offs last season with Stevenage and wish them every success."

Ford stressed that he wanted to stay in the game in a managerial capacity.
