FORMER Ebbsfleet United defender Ross Smith has joined League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 26-year-old has signed a one-year contract after failing to agree a new deal with Ebbsfleet.

Smith had delayed contract talks and manager Liam Daish decided he could not wait any longer, bringing in Woking's Gary MacDonald as his replacement.

The popular Canadian spent two seasons at Stonebridge Road, making 88 appearances.
