Fans' website completes Fleet takeover

THE takeover of Ebbsfleet United by fans website MyFootballClub was formally ratified at an Extraordinary General Meeting on Monday.

On Tuesday, manager Liam Daish and the Fleet players were at the Eurostar shop in Bluewater to officially celebrate the takeover.

MyFootballClub spokesman Tim Glynne-Jones said: "We were always pretty confident it would go through. From early January it was all looking fairly positive. It was just a case of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts to take it to this stage.

"Now it is all done and dusted there's a lot of excitement, more than relief."

Fleet Trust chairman Jessica McQueen said: "There's been a lot of uncertainty but now at last we can draw a line under it and say 'it's all done, let's move on and all be Ebbsfleet fans'."

Fleet manager Liam Daish said: "We've got to concentrate on what we're doing between now and the end of the season.

"They'll be a lot of people waiting to see how it pans out and hopefully it will be positive for everyone."

Interim chairman Brian Kilcullen will step down from his role and a board selected by members of MyFootballClub will take charge of the club.

More than 20,000 members will start voting on team selection next month.
