Gravesend & Northfleet v Halifax Town
GRAVESEND manager Liam Daish is hoping to have a full hand of strikers to deal from ahead of the visit of Halifax on Saturday.
Fleet went into their game at Scarborough with a dearth of forwards, meaning 17-year-old new signing Onome Sodje and midfielder Andy Drury had to operate up front in the 3-1 defeat.
But Kim Grant, Manny Omoyimni and top-scorer Charlie McDonald are all making good progress in their return to full fitness and Daish expects them to be available.
He said: "It’s too early to say how likely they are to play but I am confident they will all be ready for the Halifax game.
"Having them back would be a big boost for the club. It’s important to have competition for places, especially in the centre-forward department, as it gives all the players an edge. They know they have to fight for their place in the starting line-up.
"You need all your strikers fit and healthy to provide that edge and if we can get all three back fit then it will just beef things up."
Sodje will also be in the shake-up for a place up front for the Halifax game, having joined the club from Charlton academy.
The teenager, who scored 14 goals in 19 games in the under-17 FA Premier Academy League last season, had a solid game on his debut at Scarborough, despite missing two early chances.
