Manager Daryl McMahon says he and his players are all accountable for Ebbsfleet’s poor form.

Fleet have taken just one point from their last four games after crashing 4-1 at Wrexham last weekend.

That’s McMahon’s worst run of results in management and it’s dropped his side to 14th in the National League.

He said: “We’re all accountable for what we do. Every player’s accountable for his performance and I’m accountable for the results.

“The players know the level of performance I expect and if you keep hitting below that, it affects the result.

“On Saturday, we didn’t work hard enough and if you don’t work hard, you can’t win football matches.

“We had a long chat on Monday about the standards of the group, what I expect and what we expect of each other.

“Training on Monday and Tuesday was good and we can’t forget that game but we put it to one side and focus on Havant on Saturday.”

After a dreadful start to September, the Fleet host a newly-promoted Hawks side who are leaking goals but scoring a few at the other end.

McMahon’s men had won four out of five before this slump so why has a talented squad started to under-perform?

“I don’t know," said McMahon. "It’s a mixture of things. We’ve got quite a few that have been out and a few are still getting to know each other.

“We’ve had Darren McQueen out a long time, Michael Cheek and Jack King have come in and Sam Magri is back from an injury, so we’ve had lots of different things but I still expect more from the group than we got on Saturday.”

Ebbsfleet have struggled at home this season, losing four of their five matches at Stonebridge Road.

McMahon’s concerns over Fleet’s work rate must be resolved fast and he’s confident the players will respond.

He said: “Every now and then, every team throws up a curveball and things don’t happen.

“It happens across the board at every football club, from top to bottom, but every time that happens, it is a shock and
you need a reaction off the back of it.”
