Ebbsfleet United manager Dennis Kutrieb reacts to 2-0 National League win over Aldershot Town

Ebbsfleet manager Dennis Kutrieb described his team as “outstanding” after their midweek win over Aldershot.

Goals in either half from Franklin Domi and Dominic Poleon saw the Fleet win 2-0 in the National League on Tuesday night.

It was the perfect response to last weekend’s home reverse to Solihull as Kutrieb shuffled his pack.

“It was a great game with high intensity for us,” said the Fleet boss.

“We had five changes and it seemed to me that we were much fresher than them, and could make an impact from the first minute.

“We needed to score a second goal earlier or a third goal and it would have been much easier for us. But at the end of the day, it’s a 2-0 win and an outstanding team performance.

“We switched off a bit after the second goal and that can be dangerous but, especially when you have in your head that you have to go far away on Saturday (Gateshead) and play the next game, it’s maybe a bit natural.

“I don’t like it but it might be natural because the boys are not stupid.”

So did the Fleet’s impressive display come from the manager’s complaints over the lack of intent against Solihull or after switching their formation around in midweek?

“I would say a bit half and half,” responded Kutrieb. “We spoke about Saturday and the urgency was not there in the first half.

“This was much better on Tuesday, we tried to go forward, we tried to enter the box and make good decisions in good areas. We did that outstandingly, especially in the first half and then until we scored the second goal.

“These teams have been in the league a long time, Solihull knew exactly what they were doing, Aldershot as well, so we need to be ready and bring our performances on the pitch.

“When we drop it’s not like we still win the game and that’s what we need to learn, we need to be nearly 100 per cent and then we’ll have a chance to win.

“From an outside point of view, it would be easy to get a win from last Saturday so we could be sat here with three wins in a row and we’d all start dreaming again so maybe it’s a good place not to have all nine points.”
