Football’s match-fixing scandal touched Ebbsfleet United this week and manager Steve Brown admitted he was shocked by the latest revelations.
On Saturday, the Fleet played host to a Whitehawk side who sacked two players - Michael Boateng and Hakeem Adelakun - charged with match-fixing just a day before the game.
Brown said: "It’s awful news. It’s horrendous. I can’t believe it goes on. It’s disappointing and surprising. I’m shocked.
"There must be an enormous amount of money to be made for somebody for this to go on. I don’t know how you clamp down on it.
"I can understand how, at this level (Skrill South) and levels below this, perhaps, it’s achievable.
"But it surprises me and it disappoints me that players would take that stance, to take money to try to throw a game."
