Daryl McMahon insists Ebbsfleet must not underestimate their struggling Kent rivals Margate at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.

Eight games without a win have piled the pressure on Gate boss Terry Brown, whose side are second-bottom in Vanarama National League South.

Fleet, by contrast, are still unbeaten and just point behind leaders Bath with a game in hand.

But McMahon said: "They’ve got too many good players and their manager’s experienced so they will come good.

"I’m sure they’ll be glad we’re coming because it might relieve a bit of pressure on them.

"We’ll approach it like we have done every game this season. We’ll try to win but know it’s going to be difficult. We’ve got to try to keep the unbeaten run going."

Asked how long his side could stay unbeaten, McMahon said: "Who knows? How long’s a piece of string? We don’t mention it at all.

"We’ll try to win every game. That’s probably not going to happen but we’ll take each game as it comes and see where we end up."

Just five weeks into the season, Ebbsfleet are facing their third game away to Kent opposition. They’ve already won 2-0 at Maidstone and 1-0 at Dartford in front of bumper crowds.

McMahon said: "I think there were a thousand there for Dartford so I don’t think it’ll be as big as the 2,000 we had at Maidstone and Dartford.

"The crowd’s not going to have as much of an influence as it did in those two games. We’ll treat it like any other game to be honest.

"They’re not on a great run but we know they’ve got good players, we know eventually they’re going to win and we don’t want it to be against us."
