Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright won’t be afraid of making big decisions.
The Fleet have a 34-man squad that is going to take some managing. Of those, three are out injured long-term and four are loan players while five are on loan at other clubs.
Only 18 can be named on any matchday and while others are currently sidelined through injury, it’s still a fine balancing act ahead for Wright as he moulds the squad to his needs.
“I’ve got a big squad,” said Wright. “There’s a lot of players here and I need to manage and deal with that with Kers (David Kerslake, assistant manager) and the other staff, and that’s exactly what I’ll do.
“I have some big, bold decisions to make. I respect them and they respect me but they need to know that I’m going to make some big decisions and that’s what happens in football.
“It’s happened to me and it’s happened to all of them, and it will happen to all of them again.”
Wright made a triple half-time change on his managerial debut at Barnet, replacing Jez Davies, Tyler Cordner and Kwame Thomas with Dominic Poleon, Aaron Cosgrave and Franklin Domi.
He added: “I did that at half-time, I did it during the game and I did it on Friday when I named the team. That’s down to me to keep doing that and that’s part and parcel of it, as well as your man-management.
“I’ll make sure I keep everyone as happy as I can and try to get everyone pulling in the same direction.”
One of those decisions included extending Jez Davies’ loan spell from League 2 Salford for a further month on Monday. The Fleet are yet to see the best of Davies after his harsh red card on debut against Solihull Moors.
