GRAVESEND & Northfleet chairman Brian Kilcullen has resigned from the post - to spend more time on the club’s plans for a new ground.
Kilcullen masterminded the Fleet’s rise to the Nationwide Conference and their transition to full-time football during his six-year spell at the helm.
He announced his resignation to the club’s fans in the matchday programme at Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Burton.
Mr Kilcullen wrote: "It is not a decision that has been taken lightly. It is for positive reasons, though I would not be honest if I did not admit that at times it is a very exacting role, both professionally and personally.
"I now intend to concentrate on two very important tasks; raising captial for the club in the short-term and working on the new stadium project in the longer-term.
"We have set up a project team to work on the new stadium project which will include a commercial development that will underpin the club’s financial future.
"I still want to be heavily involved with this club. It is just that I feel my time is best spent working on the financing of the club and the new stadium."
