Daryl McMahon has demanded a reaction when Ebbsfleet go to Tranmere on Saturday.
Fleet head to Prenton Park without a goal in three games and having won only one of their last eight in all competitions.
They crashed 3-0 at home to Boreham Wood on Saturday while Tranmere, who were struggling when they drew 0-0 at Stonebridge Road in September, have dragged themselves into the National League title race.
McMahon said: “They’re a good side with proper men throughout their team who have been around the block.
“Micky Mellon’s won the league before with Fleetwood and it’ll be a tough game.
“We all know what it’s like at Prenton Park, it’s aggressive and they’ve got some top players.”
There was a touch of annoyance in McMahon’s voice as he added: “We’ll probably be all right, because it’s against a big club.
“If you look at every ex-League team we’ve played, and the derbies, in general we’ve been good in those games. In the other games, we haven’t.
“I expect a reaction and a much better performance than Saturday.”
Transfer talks continued this week. McMahon said: “I’m desperate to get someone in but it’s got to be the right person. They’ve got to get in the starting XI and make an impact.
“We probably need two attacking players but at the minute we’re drawing a blank.
“If we can’t get them, we’ll go with what we’ve got and keep working.”
