LEE SHEARER: headed the equaliser

LEE SHEARER scored his first goal of the season to earn Gravesend & Northfleet a 1-1 draw at 10-man Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.

He headed home after 69 minutes after good work on the right from Andy Drury to earn his side a deserved point.

Shrewsbury had Darren Moss sent-off on the half-hour for a foul on Drury, who then missed a penalty.

Former Birmingham man Martin O’Connor brought down Steve McKimm in the box but Drury blazed the spot kick over the bar.

Luke Rodgers gave Jimmy Quinn’s depleted side the lead after 42 minutes only for Fleet to come back.

It’s now 11 games undefeated for Andy Ford's side as they closed the gap on Accrington in 10th to just two points.

Meanwhile, Manny Omoyinmi has been recalled from Gravesend by his club Oxford United who are involved in the Nationwide League, Division 3 promotion play-offs.

But defender Chris Moore is staying at Stonebridge Road after signing a one-year contract.

Fleet finish their season at home to Northwich on Saturday.
