Gravesend & Northfleet 1 Stevenage Borough 1

CHARLIE MACDONALD'S 18th goal of the season earned Gravesend a point from their Nationwide Conference clash against Stevenage Borough at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead just before the half hour mark when Steve Morison netted his 24th of the campaign from close range after fine work by Dale Binns.

But the lead lasted less than five minutes as Stacy Long found MacDonald in the box and he turned well and shot past Stevenage keeper Alan Julian.

Luke Moore should have put Fleet in front 11 minutes into the second half when he was sent clear by MacDonald, but his shot was weak and comfortably saved by Julian.

Julian then had to be at his best to tip a powerful Mark DeBolla shot wide, while the midfielder also went close with a free-kick.

Gravesend: McShane, R Smith, McCarthy, Hawkins, Slatter, Purcell (Ledgister 76), Long, Quinn, DeBolla, Moore (Sodje 75), MacDonald.
Subs Not Used: Mott, J Smith, Varney.
Attendance: 1,409.
