Gravesend & Northfleet v Canvey Island

GRAVESEND & Northfleet directors will consider further Friday night matches if this week’s experiment against local rivals Canvey Island succeeds.

All eyes will be on the gate as the club test the water for Friday night football.

Club secretary director Roly Edwards said: "This is an out and out experiment. Canvey were up for it so the two clubs agreed.

"Gates all over the country are down but if we can attract somewhere in the region of 1,100 to 1,200 then we would consider further Friday night matches.

"Of course a lot depends on whether opponents agree. But we could see future derbies against Dagenham-Redbridge and Crawley played on a Friday night.

"It’s all down to the response at the gate. We’re very much in the hands of supporters on this."
