MyFootballClub members have voted almost unanimously for Ebbsfleet to sign Brentford defender Darius Charles in a potential club record deal of £25,000.

Nearly 92 per cent said yes to make the 21-year-old's loan stay at Stonebridge Road permanent

Voting closed at lunchtime on Wednesday with 3,031 members agreeing to splash the cash. Fleet will pay an intial £15,000, with another £10,000 based on performances, beating the previous record of £20,000 paid to Cambridge City for striker Michael Gash

Charles is in his second spell with the club, but is presently sidelined by an ankle injury. He is due to have the cast removed on Wednesday.

Boss Liam Daish said: "We hope that Darius can push on from here, because we need him back in the side, he has been a big loss.

"But for a misdiagnosis at the start he would be back playing by now."
