Gravesend & N v Rushden
INJURED Gravesend & Northfleet pair Mark DeBolla and Mark Ricketts are likely to miss Saturday’s game against Rushden at Stonebridge Road.
Meanwhile, manager Liam Daish is poised to strengthen his squad when the transfer window opens on Monday.
Though the Fleet have emerged as the surprise side of the Nationwide Conference season so far, Daish made it clear after the Boxing Day win over Crawley that he will not rest on his laurels in pursuit of a play-off place.
He said: "There are a lot of factors involved, such as who is available, can they improve us and how much they’ll cost?
"I’ve been on the phone every day finding out what’s about. I’m not saying I’m interested in every position but I need By fresh faces and hopefully I’ll be able to do it."
Daish also faces the problem of fending off interest in 13-goal Charlie MacDonald with Conference promotion chasers Burton the latest club to show interest.
Though MacDonald is experiencing a drought – his last goal coming on October 21, Daish is confident the forward will re-discover his predatory instincts sooner rather than later.
The former Charlton striker produced an outstanding performance in the 1-0 win over Crawley and Daish said: "Charlie gives everything for the good of the team.
The harder he works the quicker the goals will flow again. But then Charlie is not all about scoring goals. He and Luke Moore link up very well."
Moore ended his own goal drought – that had lasted since September 2 – with the winner against Crawley, and made no secret of his relief.
He said: "I had a problem with a groin injury, which kept me out of the side for a while. I was just concentrating on getting back on the scoresheet again and it happened for me today.
"If we can keep grinding out results, like we did against Crawley, we can make the play-offs."
