Ebbsfleet United’s Jermaine McGlashan has claimed he was racially abused during Saturday’s National League win at Hartlepool United.
Former Gillingham midfielder McGlashan, who joined the Fleet from League 2 Swindon in January, took to social media after the game.
He said: “Class from the few Hartlepool players that came to see how I was today after being racially abused not for the first time in a game.
“No room whatsoever for it and hope it gets dealt with accordingly!"
Following the alleged incident, an announcement was made over the public address system during the game to remind supporters that racial abuse would not be tolerated at the ground.
Hartlepool boss Dave Challinor said: “We’ve heard nothing (but) other people haven’t, they are quite within their right to explain what they’ve heard. I can’t make any further comment than that.”
Hartlepool issued the following statement on Saturday evening: "Following today’s fixture against Ebbsfleet United, we can confirm that allegations of two incidents during the game have been made.
"It is important to state that, at this stage, these alleged incidents are unsubstantiated and will be subject to a full investigation.
"We will hide nothing in our thorough examination of the facts and will respond to any enquiries from any authorities.
"As importantly, once we have carried out a full investigation we will identify any action required and, regardless of this, will not be distracted from our commitment and efforts to promote diversity and educate inclusivity.
"Hartlepool United condemn abuse of any nature and we will continue to work closely with the relevant bodies to ensure that Victoria Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters, staff and players."
Ebbsfleet won the game thanks to Gozie Ugwu’s second-half penalty, a result that leaves them four points away from climbing out of the bottom four in the National League.
Earlier this season, Hartlepool United were fined £7,500 by the Football Association after racial abuse by supporters at Dover Athletic players in September. £5,000 of that sum was suspended until the end of next season.
An independent regulatory commission found that the words "you black ****" and/or "**** off you black ****" were used towards Dover players.
