Ebbsfleet United have signed former Gillingham youngster Ben Chapman.
The 21-year-old was a junior at Crystal Palace and turned pro with the Gills but spent last season playing at Dulwich Hamlet in National League South.
Chapman had been offered a deal at Gillingham in the summer of 2019 but decided against taking the offer and instead chose regular football, which he got at Champion Hill.
The midfielder knows Fleet director of football Steve Lovell well, playing under him during his time as manager of the Gills.
Chapman made his first senior appearance for Gillingham in August 2017 during Ady Pennock’s time as manager, playing against Reading in a League Cup fixture. He also made five appearances for the club in the Football Trophy.
He’s looking forward to helping Fleet regain their National League status next season, saying: “The best thing a team that drops down can do is bounce straight back up and you get that feeling from the management, the staff and the players we’re bringing in.”
