Gravesend & Northfleet 0 – 2 Stevenage
GRAVESEND suffered a disappointing home defeat at the hands of Stevenage on Saturday.
Manager Liam Daish made four changes to the side that lost to Kettering in the FA Cup last weekend, but they got off to the worst possible start when Jon Nurse headed Stevenage in front from close range after just three minutes.
Fleet were almost level six minutes later but Manny Omoyinmi’s shot was well saved by Alan Julian in the Stevenage goal.
Julian also denied Danny Slatter and Andy Drury with superb stops as Gravesend tried to force their way back into the match.
But they fell further behind in the 71st minute when George Boyd fired past Craig Holloway from a tight angle via the underside of the crossbar.
Stevenage’s Dino Maamria was dismissed for a second bookable offence with 13 minutes to play but it was too late for Fleet to mount a comeback.
Gravesend: Holloway, Tann, Smith, McCarthy, Glozier (Grant 82), Slatter (Surey 55), Bowry, Drury (Sodje 72), Jackson, MacDonald, Omoyinmi.
Subs Not Used: Kerr, Protheroe.
