Ebbsfleet United 4 Carshalton 1
EBBSFLEET UNITED progressed into the second round of the FA Trophy with a comfortable 4-1 win over Carshalton at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.
The Ryman League Premier Division side gave the home side an early scare when Lance Cronin was forced to save well from a Phil Ruggles shot after six minutes.
But it was Fleet who took the lead on 14 minutes when Chris McPhee bundled home a Stacy Long free-kick.
Carshalton looked to find a way back into the game and pulled level through the impressive Ruggles on 34 minutes.
A speculative long ball forward fell into the path of the striker who held off the challenge of Paul McCarthy before lobbing Cronin with an exquisite chip.
In the second half, Fleet came out strongly and took the lead on 52 minutes when McPhee beat Aaron Howe with a low shot into the left corner, after seeing his initial effort blocked.
The victory was wrapped up after 77 minutes when Luke Moore raced into the area before firing a shot into the top right corner of the goal.
Substitute John Akinde compounded the visitors misery when he slotted home Moore's cross from the right hand side in the 88th minute.
