Jack Powell insists there’s more to come from both him and Ebbsfleet in the National League.
Powell has started seven of Fleet’s first eight games back at this level and he came off the bench to score in the other.
The 23-year-old also curled in a brilliant free-kick against Eastleigh on Saturday and is determined to keep improving up against better players.
Powell said: "I think I’ve done well but I’ve got so much more to give.
"I know the level I can get to and I’m sure my best football’s yet to come.
"I spoke about it with the manager and that may reflect on the team, my own individual performances.
"I put a lot of pressure on myself to help carry the team when needed and step up to the plate.
"It’s frustrating, having drawn seven games but it would be more frustrating if we weren’t playing well.
"We’re overcoming some hurdles and we’re facing teams that have been in this league for quite a while, so we’re definitely applying ourselves well. Hopefully, the draws turn into wins sooner rather than later."
The former Millwall man has played a significant part in keeping Fleet unbeaten in the league this year but he’d love to see them score first, rather than chase games.
"It’s something we’ve spoken about," Powell said.
"We pride ourselves on not conceding many but with the step up in quality at this level, you get punished if you make a mistake like we saw on Saturday with their equaliser. We’ve got to address starting on the front foot and that’s all it is – little tweaks and we’ll pick up the wins.
"There’s a good spirit in the changing room. The lads that don’t play so often are ready to step in and you’ve seen that with some good substitute performances this season.
"If you’re playing well you keep the shirt but there’s also competition.
"I’ve enjoyed being part of this club since I’ve been here – just over a year – and hopefully it continues that way."
