Ebbsfleet boss Dennis Kutrieb is ready to bring in a third new addition in a fortnight.
The Fleet landed Wolves keeper Louie Moulden on loan and striker Shaquile Coulthirst arrived from Billericay on Tuesday, with both making their debuts in the 5-0 thrashing of St Albans.
Now Kutrieb has lined up another new face, with a loan deal set to be agreed with a Football League club ahead of this weekend’s National League South game at home to Slough.
“We will definitely make something,” confirmed Kutrieb, when quizzed about any further incomings.
“We’ve got a good option on the table at the moment so we may do something during the week. We have injuries now, in the back and on the wings, so we definitely want to do something but as I’ve said many times before it needs to be a good fit.
“We have something very interesting on the table and maybe he will be with us from Friday. It’s definitely a perfect fit for us, if it’s possible for us to get him, and then we’ll see if we need something else or not.
“We have a big squad as I’ve said many times before, we make many changes in every game and it could change if you have too many players.
"We’re very cautious at the moment, we look at everything, and we’ll make the (right) decisions for the club.
“We’re talking about a loan player, maybe for a month or a little bit longer. We’ve looked (at) him for 12 months now because he’s a really good player.
“He’s been (out) injured so maybe he needs some game time, he can come in straight away and make an impact for us. It looks like it could happen at the end of the week.”
Kutrieb lost Greg Cundle and Joe Martin to injury last week while striker Rakish Bingham is not expected back imminently.
Fleet have kept a 25-man squad for most of the season but with 16 league games still to play, Kutrieb has to get the balance right in case they pick up any more injuries.
“It’s a little bit like juggling,” admitted Kutrieb. “You always need to find the right balance and make changes, not too many changes.
“Especially now after a 5-0 win, everyone expects to play on Saturday again. But there’s a few boys on the bench that didn’t deserve to be on the bench.
"It’s always decision-making for us, we need to be able to find the right fit, the right XI that is able to score goals and win games, and not concede.
“For me when we win 5-0 it is much easier to make decisions than when we lose 1-0 so I’m not scared from that point of view. If we win our games, I’m happy.”
Ebbsfleet, who now trail leaders Dorking by seven points and have a game in hand, host a Slough side who have gone six games without a league win this Saturday (3pm).
