MARK FOREMAN, professional at Gravesend’s Mid-Kent Golf Club, and amateur Bruce Galbraith have qualified for the grand final of the Lombard Trophy.

The pair stormed to the front of Friday’s south east qualifier at Littlestone to reach the final of Europe’s biggest pro-am event.

They returned a five-under 66 and, by virtue of their inward 33, deprived leaders Royal Cinque Ports, whose 29 out was tarnished by a back nine of 37.

The Mid-Kent pair now join 15 other regional qualifiers from all over Great Britain and Ireland for the 36-hole Grand Final to be played at the Algarve’s Vale Do Lobo between September 14-18.

Towards the end of the qualifier they learned they were one ahead with two to play. They both bogeyed the tough short 17th and knew all they needed was a par at the last because they had a much better inward half than clubhouse leaders, Royal Cinque Ports.
