Manager Daryl McMahon has challenged his players to be the most industrious in National League South.
There is no shortage of talent in the Fleet squad with many capable of playing at a higher level.
But the Fleet boss knows that quality counts for nothing if they do not put in the effort.
“We want to be the hardest-working team in the league,” said McMahon. “I think that’s important.
“You look at any team at any level that is successful – Barcelona, Bayern, whoever they are, they all work hard and that’s a gimme. You can have all the quality in the world but if you don’t work hard then that’s not going to amount to much."
The Fleet’s industry was there to see last Saturday as they raced into a three-goal lead in 22 minutes against St Albans.
It was an impressive start by McMahon’s team, with the likes of captain Danny Kedwell and two-goal Sam Deering among those pressing the ball high up the pitch.
“We are at our best when we press high,” added McMahon.
Aaron McLean was due to find out the extent of his knee injury this week, with a minimum spell on the sidelines of three months expected, but Sean Shields (thigh) should be fit for Saturday's FA Cup third qualifying tie at home to Havant.
