Ebbsfleet goalkeepers - past and present- played a prominent role as Jamie Day's side lost 1-0 in at Clarence Park.

Present custodian Brandon Hall made two fine saves before teenager Jack Green converted the second rebound for the winner midway through the second half.

Then home Player-of-the Year Joe Welch, who had a spell at Stonebridge Road under former boss Liam Daish, before moving to Bromley in 2012, denied Stuart Lewis and Danny Kedwell late on to keep the home side ahead.

St Albans also had another goal disallowed in stoppage time when Hall's clearance bounced off his own defender Anthony Acheampong, and finished up in the net, only to be disallowed for an infringement by home strlker John Frendo.

Hall was unlucky with the goal that settled the contest after only 22 minutes. He stopped City captain's Lee Chappell's effort, then pulled off an even better stop to keep out his follow-up, only for Green to stab home.

Fleet's eighth away defeat of the season leaves them ninth, while St Albans are 14th, following this third successive win.

Day's men host Bishop's Stortford in their final game of the season on Saturday.
