Ebbsfleet’s midweek trip to FC Halifax will be played at a different venue next week.
FC Halifax’s The Shay ground has been plagued by postponed matches this season, caused primarily by a combination of bad weather and its dual use for rugby games.
As a result, Ebbsfleet’s fans will be going the extra mile as the National League match will be played at League 2 Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium.
The game, which was postponed less than an hour before kick-off on March 23 at The Shay, will still take place on the rearranged date of Tuesday, April 16 with a 7.45pm kick-off.
FC Halifax’s scheduled league match on Wednesday night at home to Oldham was postponed due to the pitch conditions while they will also play their league game at home to Barnet at Accrington’s ground this Saturday.
A statement from FC Halifax said: “We understand the frustration recent postponements have caused and we would like to thank Accrington Stanley for helping us to fulfil these two fixtures.”
The Fleet Supporters Trust are running a coach to the game, with previous travellers to the original Halifax fixture going free courtesy of the club’s funding of the transport. Anyone else wishing to go can do so for a reduced charge of £15.
Ebbsfleet still require four points from their final three games of the season to guarantee National League safety after losing at play-off chasing Solihull Moors on Tuesday night. The Fleet host Altrincham this Saturday and then visit Boreham Wood on Saturday, April 20.
