NEW Gravesend manager Liam Daish has added to his backroom staff by recruiting Nigel Gurney from former club Welling.
Gurney, who worked as assistant to former Wings manager Paul Parker, will join the Fleet in a scouting role once he has returned from a holiday in Australia.
He follows former-Charlton, Cambridge United and Wimbledon defender Alan Kimble into Stonebridge Road. He arrived a week ago as Daish’s assistant.
"I’m pleased that Nigel has decided to come on board with us because his knowledge of semi-professional football will be invaluable," said Daish.
"Once he returns from Australia he will take on a scouting role which I know he’s itching to do."
* Part of the closed Northfleet Stand at Gravesend’s Stonebridge Road ground could be re-opened before the season’s end.
Following an inspection, safety authorities said they were happy to re-open part of the terrace in the short-term, providing remedial work is completed.
The terrace was closed last month owing to a significant deterioration in the concreting.
