BRANDS Hatch circuit has undergone a historic alteration in preparation for the start of the new season in March.
The run-off at Clearways corner has been increased with the aim of helping the riders and drivers on the Indy circuit avoid hitting the barriers.
Such incidents cause interuptions to races and it is hoped the wider, asphalt run off will allow competitors who lose it on the bend to regain control easier and thus reduce stoppages.
Motorsport Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: "This really is a bit of history for Brands Hatch as it is the first time any work such as this has been carried out at Clearways.
"The changes will make the track even safer for drivers and riders and allow for smoother-flowing race weekends with fewer red flags.
"This will improve the show for the crowd and with the re-profiling of the bank at Clearways we have made it an even better spot for spectators than before."
The new season starts on March 24, with the Easter Monday Truck Superprix. For more information, visit www.brandshatch.co.uk
