Ebbsfleet defender Haydn Hollis was keen to look at the bigger picture despite conceding a last-gasp equaliser on Tuesday night.
The Fleet fell just short of a third away win in a week after Farnborough’s 95th-minute leveller pegged them back in a see-saw 2-2 draw.
After wins at St Albans and Chelmsford, the timing of the goal meant it was tough to take but Hollis was keen to point out that two wins and a draw from three tough matches was still a satisfying return.
“It’s disappointing to concede late on but the bigger picture is it’s been a seven-point week,” stated Hollis.
“Two wins, one draw, seven points is promotion form from three games.
“It’s not going to go your own way all the time so seven points from three away games in a week is brilliant.
“It’s just the circumstances, the way we conceded late on. We’re in a great position and we want to win our home games now.”
Hollis had put the Fleet 2-1 ahead with 20 minutes left at Cherrywood Road but took responsibility for his part in the equaliser.
The defender felt his team left themselves too exposed.
“I felt like we were too open but that’s the way we are,” he said. “We have to learn and move on from that, and learn from our mistakes - probably organise a little bit better and I take full responsibility for that, that’s my job.
“I’m the organiser. If we’re open, I take the blame for that.
“There’s always lessons, no matter where you are in the league or what league you’re in. You can always learn from what you do and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
On his goal, the towering 30-year-old centre-back said: “It was right place, right time, that’s all it was. It was nice to chip in but I’m disappointed it wasn’t the winner.
“I just tried to find the right position, Toby [Edser] did all the hard work and it just fell for me perfectly. At that point it got us in front but it just wasn’t to be the winner.”
