Gravesend & Northfleet 2 Tamworth 0
GRAVESEND produced a solid display to defeat Tamworth at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.
Fleet took the lead just before the break when makeshift striker James Smith produced a magnificent lob over Tamworth keeper Sean Bowles from the edge of the area.
The goal lit up a match that had failed to ignite before that.
Jimmy Jackson drilled well wide and Mark Rawle shot straight at Bowles after Jackson's free-kick had fallen kindly for him, but neither side had really looked like scoring.
Gravesend doubled their lead on the hour mark with a goal from Jackson who was in the right place to score after Scott Gooding's free-kick had been headed back across goal by James Smith.
It was Jackson's second goal in consecutive home games and gave Fleet the breathing space they needed to close out the game.
