Danny Kedwell has confirmed his departure from Ebbsfleet United after more than four years at the club.
The 35-year-old striker was out of contract at the end of last season but had appeared enough times to trigger a clause in his contract which meant the club had to make an offer.
However, Ebbsfleet's new financial structure meant that the new deal was on much-reduced terms and Kedwell has opted to continue his career elsewhere.
"It’s time to say goodbye to Ebbsfleet United," he said.
"Getting into three play-offs and getting promoted in one as captain of the club which I’ll never forget.
"I would like to thank my ex-team-mates. They have all been a credit to work with, day in, day out.
"I made some great friends and I wish them all the best for the future and I’d like to thank all the fans for your great support, you’ve been brilliant.”
Kedwell joined the Fleet in January 2015, under the then-management of Jamie Day, after leaving his boyhood team, Gillingham - having netted 45 goals in 136 outings.
He became a fans' favourite at Stonebridge Road and helped the Fleet win promotion to the National League in 2017.
Kedwell found game time harder to come by in the second half of last season under Fleet boss Garry Hill, who hinted he might use the striker in a centre-back role at one stage to cover an injury crisis.
In total, Kedwell scored 65 goals for Ebbsfleet, the last of which came in a 3-3 draw at Havant & Waterlooville on Good Friday.
Midfielder Jack Payne has already linked up with National League rivals Eastleigh while Myles Weston was the other player still to decide his future after also being offered reduced terms.
Kedwell will continue at Stonebridge Road in one role, however, as he will still be working with the Fleet's academy set-up.
