Manager Dennis Kutrieb believes Ebbsfleet need at least five more wins before they can think about promotion.
The Fleet moved 14 points clear at the top of National League South with just 11 games left to play following a 2-2 draw at Farnborough on Tuesday night.
They might need more to secure the title if nearest rivals Dartford hit a winning streak, and Kutrieb is keen to stress that the job is not over yet.
“We could have easily lost the Farnborough game, and if other teams win their games then we’re in trouble,” said Kutrieb, whose side have 80 points from 35 matches.
“We need to make sure we get the next one right. If we win on Saturday then it looks a bit better as there’s just 11 games to go. But there’s still 33 points and if I’m good at maths then it means we’re not promoted.
“We have to keep going as long as we can. I would say we need a minimum five wins more. That’s definitely what we need as a minimum, maybe a few more, but just see the next game and try to get three points.”
The Fleet boss feels his team are still learning lessons - and the heartache of their play-off final defeat at Dorking Wanderers last season is providing an additional motivating factor in the background.
“It was nearly over on Tuesday, it was the 94th minute when Farnborough got the equaliser,” said Kutrieb.
“Against Dorking it was 99th minute, it was almost done and almost over so it’s not over until it’s over - simple as that.
“We’ve learned our lessons and we’ve got another lesson today, we have to do better. Higher up the pitch, we had easy ball possession but we gave it away and we can’t do that there. We gave it away and the ball’s in the back of the net.
“That’s what happens in football if you’re not 100% focused until the referee blows his whistle.”
Ebbsfleet’s busy schedule continues with matches at home to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday and Worthing on Tuesday night.
The Fleet drew at Hemel earlier in the campaign so will not be taking their improving opponents lightly.
“We need to make sure we win our game on Saturday,” stated Kutrieb. “It’s another good chance but we can’t under-estimate Hemel, they took points off us in the first game when we played there.
“We have to be ready for this one. They are a good side, we know what they are able to do. Hopefully we have the anger from the last kick of the game at Farnborough on Saturday, and that’s what we need to go forward.”
Franklin Domi came off with cramp against Farnborough so will be available for selection.
He took his season’s tally to four with a classy second-half finish, and Kutrieb believes there’s still more to come.
“He’s so young, he can learn a lot of things,” said the Fleet boss. “I think he’s very versatile, similar to Ben Chapman, and that’s good for me to have.
“He can play as a defender as well but I see many good things from him in training where I think playing a little bit higher up the pitch is good for him also.
“He has an eye for a goal, he has so much energy and power where he can make good runs in behind. From that point of view, we will see if we need to use him like we did against Chippenham as a centre-half. Whatever we need from him he is ready to deliver it.
“He’s one of the players who really wants to win. I always say if someone comes off with cramp, I’m the happiest man in the world as it shows me someone left everything on the pitch and that’s what we want to have.”
